Save yourself & your Families from Hell Fire
Part-12: Hell Fire ~ Some Inhabitants of Hell
Pharaoh[1], The Wives of Nuh (alayhi salam) and Lut (alayhi salam)[2], Abu Lahab and His Wife[3], Amr bin Luhayy[4], Amr bin Amir al-Khuya’i[5], Abu Talib[6]
O you who believe! Protect yourselves & your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is people & stones, over which are (appointed) angels, stern & severe, & who disobey not the commands they receive from Allāh, but do that which they are commanded. [Al-Qur’an 66:6]
Pharaoh [1]:
“And We sent Musa (alayhi salam) with Our clear signs and an authority manifest unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Pharaoh. And the command of Pharaoh was no right guide. He will go before his people on the Day of Judgment and lead them into the Fire. And how evil will be the place to which they are led. And they are followed by a curse in this life and on the Day of Judgment. And evil is the gift which will be given to them.”
[Al-Qur’an 11:96-99]
“The Fire – they will be exposed to it morning and evening, and on the Day that judgment will be established – it will be said, ‘Cast the people of Pharaoh into the severest punishment.’”
[Al-Qur’an 40:46]
The Wives of Nuh (alayhi salam) and Lut (alayhi salam) [2]:
“Allāh has given an example of those who disbelieve: the wife of Nuh (alayhi salam) and the wife of Lut (alayhi salam). They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them; so they (the two prophets) did not benefit them (the wives) before Allah at all, and they were told, ‘Enter the Fire with those who enter.’”
[Al-Qur’an 66:10]
Abu Lahab and His Wife [3]:
“May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. His wealth will not avail him nor that which he gained. He will enter a flaming fire and his wife as well – the carrier of (thorny) firewood – around her neck a rope of palm fiber.”
[Al-Qur’an 111:1-5]
Amr bin Luhayy [4]:
Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said,
“I saw ‘Amr bin Luhayy bin Qam’a bin Khindif, brother of Bani Ka’b, dragging his intestines in the Fire.”
[Sahih Muslim 2856 a]
Amr bin Amir al-Khuya’i [5]:
Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said,
“I saw Amr bin 'Amir Al-Khuya
i (in a dream) dragging his intestines in the Fire, and he was the first person to establish the tradition of setting free the animals (for the sake of their deities).”
[Sahih al-Bukhari 4623; similar narrations in Sahih al-Bukhari 4624, Sahih Muslim 2856 b, Sahih al-Bukhari 3521]
Abu Talib [6]:
The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“Of the inmates of the Fire, the one with the easiest punishment will be Abu Talib; he will be wearing a pair of shoes which will cause his brain to boil.”
[Sahih Muslim 212; similar narrations in Sahih Muslim 210, Sahih al-Bukhari 6564, Sahih al-Bukhari 3885]
“He will say, ‘Enter into the company of communities who passed away before you – of jinn and men – into the Fire.’”
[Al-Qur’an 7:38]
“If your Lord had so willed, He could have make mankind one people, but they will not cease to dispute except those on whom your Lord has bestowed His mercy, and He created them for that end. And the word of your Lord will be fulfilled: ‘Certainly I will fill Hell with jinn and men all together.’”
[Al-Qur’an 11:118-119]
“Then they will be thrown into it (the Hellfire) on their faces – they and those straying in evil and the soldiers of Iblees, all together.”
[Al-Qur’an 26:94-95]
The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said,
“I stood at the door of Paradise and I found that the overwhelming majority of those who entered therein was that of poor persons and the wealthy persons were detained to get into that. The denizens of Hell were commanded to get into Hell, and I stood upon the door of Fire and the majority amongst them who entered there was that of women.”
[Sahih Muslim 6596, 6597, Book 36; Sahih al-Bukhari 6449]
The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said,
“I saw the Hell-fire and I had never seen such a horrible sight. I saw that most of the inhabitants were women.”
The people asked, “O Allah’s Messenger (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam)! Why is it so?”
The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) replied, “Because of their ungratefulness.”
It was asked whether they are ungrateful to Allah.
The Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said, “They are ungrateful to their companions of life (husbands) and ungrateful to good deeds. If you are benevolent to one of them throughout the life and if she sees anything (undesirable) in you, she will say, ‘I have never had any good from you”.
[Sahih al-Bukhari 1052]
