A Revision to Arkaan & Waajibaat of Salaah🤲
A’oodhu-Billahi-Minashaitanir-Rajeem
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem
The sayings and actions of salaah(prayers) are divided into three sections, namely:
💎 the integral parts (Arkaan ~ Pillars),
💎 the obligatory acts (waajibaat), and
💎 the acts of the Sunnah.
🔴The Integral Parts (Arkaan)
The integral parts of prayers are those – the
negligence of any of which, intentionally or inattentively, invalidates prayers or invalidates the rak’ah (unite of prayer) in which it is neglected; being replaced by the next one.
🔴The Obligatory Acts (Waajibaat)
As for the obligatory practices of prayers, if any of them is intentionally neglected, prayer is invalidated, but if inattentively, it is not invalidated, and performing the Prostration of Forgetfulness will be obligatory then.
🔴The acts of the Sunnah
Concerning the acts of the Sunnah to be observed during prayer, the negligence of any of them neither affects the validity of prayer nor makes it incomplete.
♦️Still, we have to bear in mind that whenever the Prophetﷺ performed prayer, he observed its integral parts, obligatory practices, and acts of the Sunnah, and we have to follow his example, for he said: “Pray as you have seen me praying.” [Sahih al-Bukhari, Vol.1, Book 11, Hadith 604]
Let’s go through the Obligatory acts of Salaah ~ Arkaan & Waajibat of Salaah👇
🟩🟥There are fourteen integral parts (Arkaan) of the prayer:
1️⃣♦️Standing straight (Al-Qiyaam) in the obligatory prayer for the one who has the ability to do so.
2️⃣♦️The opening Takbeer(takbeeratil ihram) that is saying-“AllahuAkbar” at the beginning of the prayer.
3️⃣♦️Reciting Soorah Al-Faatihah in every Rakaat.
4️⃣♦️The bow (Rukoo – this is bowing posture whereby the head and the back are positioned on the same level and both hands are rested on the knees with the fingers spread apart).
5️⃣♦️Rising from the bow and standing up straight.
6️⃣♦️Prostration (Sujood – that is prostrating oneself in such a way that the following seven parts of the body are firmly placed on the ground: the forehead together with the tip of the nose, both the palms, both the knees, the bottom surface of the toes of both feet.).
7️⃣♦️Coming up from the prostration.
8️⃣♦️Sitting between the two acts of prostration.
9️⃣♦️Having calmness and stillness (in each of the acts of the prayer).
1️⃣0️⃣♦️The final tashahhud.
1️⃣1️⃣♦️Sitting for the final tashahhud.
1️⃣2️⃣♦️Saying the prayers for the Prophet Muhammadﷺ.
1️⃣3️⃣♦️Saying the final Salaams in prayers (saying, “As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaah”).
1️⃣4️⃣♦️Performing the above in the correct order.
🟩🟥There are eight obligatory acts (waajibaat) of the prayers:
1️⃣♦️The takbeers other than the opening takbeer.
2️⃣♦️Saying, “Sami-Allaahu liman hamidah”(Allah has heard him who praises Him), for both the Imam and the one who prays alone.
3️⃣♦️Saying, “Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd”(Our Lord and to you is the praise).
4️⃣♦️Saying, “Sub’haana Rabbiyal Adheem”(Exalted and perfect is my lord, the Great), atleast once while bowing.
5️⃣♦️Saying, “Sub’haana Rabbiyal-Aala”(Exalted and perfect is my Lord, the Most High), at least once while prostrating.
6️⃣♦️Invoking Allah saying, “RABBI IGHFIR LEE”(O my Lord, forgive me), once between the two prostrations, and it is an act of Sunnah to say it up to three times.
7️⃣♦️Taking a Sitting Position for the recitation of At-Tashahhud after the first two rakaats(units) of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and ‘Isha prayers.
8️⃣♦️Reciting the At-Tashahhud after the first two rakaats(units) of Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and ‘Isha prayers.
🔴🟥The actions which nullify prayer are:
1️⃣♦️Speaking or talking in the course of the prayer.
2️⃣♦️Laughing in the course of the prayer.
3️⃣♦️Eating while praying, even though what is eaten maybe as small as a piece of date.
4️⃣♦️Drinking while praying, even though what is drank may be as small as taking only a mouthful.
5️⃣♦️If someone in the course of the prayer remembers that he/she did not actually perform the ablution(wudhu), then, such a person is required to break the prayer and go out to perform Wudhu.
6️⃣♦️If a person’s ablution(wudhu) gets invalidated in the course of the prayer, then the prayer becomes invalid.
7️⃣♦️The prayer is also invalidated by carrying out the Rukoo and Sujood postures with haste and without ease. While in prostration, bobbing(jerking) up and down like chicken pecking food from the ground is not allowed.
8️⃣♦️Turning oneself away from the direction of the Qiblah also invalidates the prayer.
