Du’aa for Istikharah (Seeking Allah’s Counsel)🤲

A’oodhu-Billahi-Minashaitanir-Rajeem.

Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Raheem.

Laa ilaaha illallah Muhammad’ur Rasoolullah.

🤲 Rabbana aatina min’ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi lana min amrina rashadaa.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

[Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and guide us rightly through our ordeal.]

🤲 Wamaa tawfeeqee illa billahi alayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi uneeb.

وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

[And verily my success is only by Allah, Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return.]

🤲 HasbunAllahu wa ni’amal Wakeel wa ni’amal Maula wa ni’aman Naseer.

حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيْلُ وَنِعْمَ الْمَوْلَى وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيْرُ

[Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Guardian; What an excellent Protector and what an excellent Helper.]

Hadith:- Jabir ibn Abdullah(radhiyallahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah(sallallahu alaihi wasallam) would teach us to pray for guidance in all matters just as he would teach us a chapter from the Qur’an. The Prophet‎ﷺ said:

When one of you has a decision, he should perform two cycles of prayer other than the obligations, then let him say:

ِِAllaahumma ‘innee ‘astakheeruka bi’ilmika,

wa ‘astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa ‘as’aluka min fadhtikal-‘Adheemi, fa’innaka taqdiru wa laa ‘aqdiru, wa ta’lamu, wa laa ‘a’lamu, wa ‘Anta ‘Allaamul-Ghuyoobi, Allaahumma ‘in kunta ta’lamu ‘anna haathal-‘amra-Khayrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati ‘amree – [or say: ‘Aajili amri wa ‘aajilihi] – Faqdurhu lee wa yassirhu lee thumma baarik lee feehi, wa ‘in kunta ta’lamu ‘anna haathal-‘amra sharrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati ‘amree – [or say: fee ‘Aajili amri wa ‘aajilihi] – Fasrifhu ‘annee wasrifnee ‘anhu waqdur liyal-khayra haythu kaana thumma ‘ardhinee bihi.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلاَ أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلاَ أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوبِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي ـ [(أَوْ قَالَ) عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ] ـ فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي ـ [(أَوْ قَالَ) فِي عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ] ـ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ، وَاقْدُرْ لِي الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ

[O Allah, I seek the counsel of Your Knowledge, and I seek the help of Your Omnipotence, and I beseech You for Your Magnificent Grace. Surely, You are Capable and I am not. You know and I know not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter is good for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, – [or say: in this life and the afterlife(for my present and latter needs)] – then ordain it for me and make it easy for me, then bless me in it. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come, – [or say: in this life and the afterlife(for my present and latter needs)] – then distance it from me, and distance me from it, and ordain for me what is good wherever it may be, and help me to be content with it.]

The Prophet‎ﷺ added that the person should then mention his need.

📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 1166(Sahih).

Only Allāh subḥānahu wa ta’āla knows the best…

🤲 Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā muḥammadin-w̃a-ʿalā āli muḥammadin kamā ṣallayta ʿalā ibrāhīma wa-ʿalā āli ibrāhīma innaka ḥamīdun-majīd, allāhumma bārik ʿalā muḥammadin-w̃a-ʿalā āli muḥammadin kamā bārakta ʿalā ibrāhīma wa-ʿalā āli ibrāhīma innaka ḥamīdun-majīd.

اللّٰہُمَ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ عَلٰٓی اٰلِ مُحَّمَدٍکَمَا صَلَّیْتَ عَلٰٓی اِبْرٰھِیْمَ وَعَلٰٓی اٰلِ اِبْرٰہِیْمَ اِنَّکَ حَمِیْدٌ مَجِیْدٌ اللّٰہُمَ بَارِکْ عَلٰی مُحَمَّد ٍوَّ عَلٰٓی اٰلِ مُحَّمَدٍ کَمَابَارَکْتَ عَلٰٓی اِبْرٰھِیْمَ وَعَلٰٓی اٰلِ اِبْرٰہِیْمَ اِنَّکَ حَمِیْدٌ مَجِیْدٌ

[O Allah, send peace on Prophet Muhammad‎ﷺ and on the family of Prophet Muhammad‎ﷺ as you sent peace on Prophet Ibrahim(alayhi salam) and the family of Prophet Ibrahim(alayhi salam). Indeed, you are praiseworthy and glorious. O Allah, bless the Prophet Muhammad‎ﷺ and the family of Prophet Muhammad‎ﷺ as you blessed Prophet Ibrahim(alayhi salam) and the family of Prophet Ibrahim(alayhi salam) Indeed, you are praiseworthy and glorious.]

🤲 Sub’hana rabbika rabbil ‘izzati amma yasifun wa salamun alal mursaleen wal’hamdulillahi rabbil aalameen.

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ، وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

[Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. And peace upon the messengers. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.]
